Kiev, Ukraine. Supported by DEKOM, Europe’s full service partner for audiovisual communications, Ukrainian students are now able to participate in real, international IT projects: on October 31, the IT-SEA (IT Service Education Application) Center has opened its doors at the Kiev Polytechnic Institute (KPI) – connecting students, teachers and business representatives from different countries by video conference.
The IT-SEA Center has been established within the scope of the European Union’s TEMPUS IHSITOP (Innovation hybrid strategy of IT-outsourcing partnership with enterprises) project, a shared commitment to setup a joint video communications network of both universities and businesses from Austria, Germany, Hungary and the Ukraine; aiming to increase the practical experience of students and to involve businesses into the process of developing more practice-oriented university training programs.
With the video conferencing solutions developed and implemented in Kiev by DEKOM Ukraine – the main technical partner of the project – these objectives have now been achieved: students, teachers and businessmen from different cities and countries are now able to share experiences, to gain access to lectures of leading professors, to organise webinars and roundtables, and to collaborate on real IT projects at the IT-SEA Center – all by video conference.
“It is important that students experience the culture of professional video communications already during education” says Denis Shapovalenko, CEO of DEKOM Ukraine. “Today’s IT-industry is global, and impossible to imagine without video conferencing. Engineers at companies such as Ciklum, Luxoft or Epam regularly use video communications to interact with customers and other team members. Now, the students from KPI can also take advantage of this opportunity.”
